Where to get the app

The app has a different name in each store, but it is the same app, published by AU Software. If you search a store, look for that name and publisher, or use the links above.

One account on the website and the app

Log in to the app with the same email and password you use here. Everything is saved to your account, not to your phone, so it is the same wherever you sign in:

  • your test history, with every answer you gave
  • your starred questions
  • your progress chart and weakest part
  • your subscription, or lifetime access if you made the earlier one-off payment

New to CitizenshipTest? You can create a free account in the app itself.

What you can do in the app

The app has the same practice as the website:

  • Simulation tests - 20 questions, timed like the real test, with a pass result that follows the real rules, including the Australian values questions.
  • Part practice - one part of the test at a time, with the right answer straight away.
  • AI Answers - ask about any question and get a clear explanation.
  • Translations - read questions in English, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Hindi or Arabic.

A phone is handy for short practice sessions on the bus or in a lunch break. For full simulation tests we still suggest a larger screen when you can, because that is closer to how the real test is taken.

Subscribing on the website or in the app

Already subscribed, or have lifetime access? Just log in to the app. It unlocks automatically - do not subscribe again.

The free plan is the same everywhere. If you want unlimited tests and AI Answers, you can subscribe on the website or in the app. Whichever you choose unlocks your account on the website and in the app. What differs is who bills you, and so where you manage it:

Where you subscribe Billed by Price in Australia Manage or cancel it
Website Us, by card through Square A$8.99 a month The Subscription page in your account menu on the website
iPhone app Apple A$10.99 a month On your iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions
Android app Google Play A$10.99 a month In the Play Store: your profile picture, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions

All three are monthly subscriptions you can cancel anytime. When you cancel, you keep unlimited access until the end of the month you have paid for. Outside Australia, Apple and Google charge their own price for your country, which the app shows before you subscribe.

Put it into practice

Sit a free 20-question practice test

Common questions

Is the app free?

Yes, it is free to download, and you can start with free practice tests. Unlimited tests and AI Answers need a subscription, the same as on the website.

I already pay on the website. Do I need to pay again for the app?

No. Log in to the app with the same account and it unlocks automatically. The same goes for lifetime access from the earlier one-off payment.

I subscribed in the app. Can I use the website too?

Yes. Log in on the website with the same account and you have unlimited access there too. Apple or Google bills an app subscription, so manage or cancel it in your Apple Account or the Google Play Store, not on the website.

Will my test history move to the app?

Yes. Your history, starred questions and progress are saved to your account, so they appear in the app as soon as you log in, and anything you do in the app shows up on the website.

Is this the official government app?

No. CitizenshipTest is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with the Department of Home Affairs or the Australian Government. Its questions are written from Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond, the only material the real test can draw on.
