How to delete your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account menu - on our website, or in our iPhone and Android apps (Aus Citizenship Test Practice on Google Play, by AU Software). Deletion happens straight away, is confirmed with a code we email you, and cannot be undone.

Before you start
Cancel your subscription first. How you cancel depends on where you subscribed:
- On our website (card payment): cancel it on the Subscription page in your account menu on the website. You cannot delete your account until it is cancelled. Our apps have no Subscription page, so sign in on the website to do this.
- In our iPhone app (App Store): cancel it in the subscription settings of your Apple Account.
- In our Android app (Google Play): cancel it in the Google Play Store, under Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Apple and Google bill App Store and Google Play subscriptions, so deleting your account does not cancel them - if you do not cancel, they keep renewing.
Once your subscription is cancelled you can delete your account straight away - you do not have to wait for the paid month to run out. Any paid time you have left is lost when you delete, and is not refunded.
The same applies to lifetime access from a one-off payment: it belongs to your account, so it ends when the account is deleted. A new account starts on the free plan.
How to delete your account
- Sign in and open your account menu at the top right of the page.
- Choose Delete account. You will see a summary of what deleting means.
- Type DELETE in the box to confirm, then select Delete my account.
- Select Send code. We email a 6-digit code to the address on your account.
- Enter the code and select Delete account. Your account is deleted, you are signed out, and we send you an email to confirm it.
The code is there so nobody else can delete your account from a device you left signed in. It is valid for 5 minutes. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder; you can ask for a new one after 2 minutes.
What is deleted
- Your account, including your email address and password
- Your practice test history and results
- Your answers and starred questions
- The sign-in and verification codes we have sent you
Any card you saved for a subscription on our website is deactivated with Square, our payment processor, so it can never be charged again. If you subscribed in our iPhone or Android app, your payment details are held by Apple or Google, not by us.
What we keep
Records of your past payments - the date, the amount and the receipt - because Australian tax law requires businesses to keep them. Square also keeps its own records of the payments it processed, under Square's privacy policy, and Apple and Google keep their own records of App Store and Google Play purchases.
A short record that the account was deleted, with the date but not your email address, so we can still answer a question about a past payment.
Common questions
Can I get my account back after deleting it?
No. Deletion is permanent and your test history cannot be recovered. You are welcome to create a new account at any time, including with the same email address.
Why does it say I need to cancel my subscription first?
Your subscription is still set to renew. If you subscribed on our website, cancel it on the Subscription page in your account menu on the website, then come back to Delete account. If you subscribed in our iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google bills it and deleting your account does not stop it, so cancel it in your Apple Account or in the Google Play Store first. Cancelling first means you always decide what happens to a subscription you are paying for.
I did not receive the code. What should I do?
Check your spam or junk folder first. If it is not there, you can ask for a new code 2 minutes after the last one. Each code is valid for 5 minutes.
I entered the code wrong several times and now I am blocked.
After too many incorrect codes we pause new attempts to protect your account - for a few minutes the first time, and for longer if it keeps happening. Wait until the pause is over, then request a new code.
I cannot sign in. Can I still delete my account?
Reset your password from the sign-in page first, then follow the steps above. If that does not work, email support@citizenshiptest.com.au from the address on your account and we will help.

Free citizenship test websites vs a paid plan: what "free" really costs you
Free practice sites cost nothing, but most are paid for with ads, keep no record of your tests and show everyone the same questions. Here is what you give up, and when it matters.
Product update
We moved to a monthly subscription on 4 October 2026
Since 4 October 2026, unlimited access is a A$8.99 monthly subscription you can cancel anytime, instead of a A$39 one-off payment. If you paid before then, nothing changes.
The test
The Australian citizenship test pass mark: 75%, and the 5 questions you cannot get wrong
The pass mark is 75% - at least 15 of 20 questions. But there is a second rule: all five Australian values questions must be correct, whatever your overall score.
